If you use candles during a power outage, it's important to use them safely. If you don't have actual candle holders, use a clean glass jar. Put sand in the bottom of the jar to hold the candle, or drip melted wax onto the bottom of the jar and stick the candle in the wax before it hardens. For maximum safety, make sure the flame height is below the top of the jar. Using a jar not only keeps the candle from falling over and starting a fire, but it protects the flame from being blown out by a breeze, and also make it easier to pick up and move the candle around the house.
